Until the possession order is made, the tenant is fully entitled to  remain in the property without penalty. [read post]

This is actually good news for landlords, as it means that if they want to evict the tenants, they don’t have to name the original tenants and serve possession proceedings on people who left many years ago and whose whereabouts will in most cases be unknown. [read post]
